We are looking to welcome an experienced and professional plasterer to our maintenance team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for applying plaster, stucco, and other finishes to various surfaces of our properties, ensuring a smooth and durable finish. Your expertise in surface preparation, application techniques, and finishing methods will be crucial in achieving high quality standards in our facilities located in the Greater Montreal area.
Responsibilities:
- Surface Preparation: Prepare surfaces by cleaning them, sanding, and filling holes or cracks to ensure a uniform base for plaster application.
- Plaster Application: Apply layers of plaster, stucco, or similar materials to interior and exterior surfaces, including walls and ceilings, using trowels, brushes, and spray equipment.
- Finishing and Texturing: Smooth or texture surfaces according to project specifications, ensuring uniformity and a professional appearance.
- Surface Protection: Protect surrounding areas and furniture by covering them with tarps, plastic sheets, or masking tape before starting work.
- Material Mixing: Mix plaster and other materials to achieve the required consistency, thus ensuring good adhesion and durability.
- Quality Control: Inspect finished surfaces to identify imperfections, ensure texture and finish consistency, and perform necessary touch-ups or corrections.
- Equipment Maintenance: Clean and maintain tools and equipment, including trowels, plaster trays, and mixing machines, to ensure their proper functioning.
- Safety Standards Compliance: Follow all safety protocols and guidelines to prevent accidents, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and compliance with plastering materials and equipment regulations.
Qualifications:
- Experience: Minimum of 4 years of experience as a professional plasterer, preferably in a construction or hospitality environment.
- Knowledge of Materials and Finishes: In-depth understanding of different plastering materials, techniques, and applications for various surfaces (e.g., drywall, concrete, brick).
- Surface Preparation Skills: Mastery of surface preparation techniques, including repairing cracks, holes, and other imperfections, to ensure uniform application.
- Application Techniques: Solid knowledge of plastering techniques, including traditional trowel application, spray application, and decorative finishes.
- Attention to Detail: Meticulous attention to detail to ensure high-quality finishes, consistent textures, and flawless application.
- Safety Awareness: Knowledge of safety procedures, including proper handling and storage of plastering materials, use of safety equipment, and compliance with current regulations.
- Physical Stamina: Ability to stand, bend, kneel, and climb ladders for extended periods, as well as lift and move heavy materials and equipment.
- Time Management: Excellent organizational and time management skills to meet project deadlines and work efficiently without compromising quality.
- Communication: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with team members, project managers, and other stakeholders.
- Certification: Valid Certificate of Competency Journeyman (CCQ) required.
- Ability to Work Flexible Hours: Must be available to work all shifts, including weekends and holidays if necessary.
