About the position

The laborer contributes to the smooth operation of the plant's operations by primarily ensuring the cleaning of floors and equipment used for the production of alumina hydrate. He also provides support to the plant operators and participates in various tasks related to operations and maintenance of the facilities.

This is a physically demanding job, carried out in an industrial environment where heat and the presence of chemicals require great vigilance and strict adherence to health and safety procedures.

Main responsibilities Under the direction of the supervisor, the laborer will have to:

• Carry out the cleaning of production floors and equipment.
• Use various cleaning equipment and tools, including: high-pressure cleaner, pneumatic jackhammer, industrial vacuum cleaner, square shovel, wheelbarrow, brooms and other manual tools.
• Operate machinery, mainly a forklift, as well as a tire loader and a mechanical shovel, as needed.
• Assist operators in their daily tasks.
• Monitor work in confined spaces.
• Keep work areas clean and safe.
• Follow work procedures, safety instructions and requirements related to handling chemicals.
• Perform any other related task necessary for the smooth running of operations.

Requirements

• No specific educational training required.
• Experience of 1 to 6 months in a similar environment, an asset.
• Experience in industrial cleaning, an asset.
• Ability to use or learn to use different equipment and machinery.
• Spoken French.
• Good ability to work in a team and communicate effectively.
• Abilities to: Bend, squat, kneel and handle a weight of up to 23 kg (50 lb)

Working conditions

• The salary is $25/h.
• The normal work schedule is 40 hours per week, usually spread from Monday to Friday from 7:30 am to 4 pm or from 7 am to 3:30 pm, depending on the operational needs of the company.
