📝 Job Summary
We are looking for an experienced lead applicator (shooter) in sprayed polyurethane (urethane) to join our team. The selected person will be responsible for applying closed-cell and/or open-cell polyurethane foam on various types of projects. They will lead the spraying operations on the site, supervise their helper, and ensure the quality and compliance of the insulation work.
🔧 Responsibilities
- Operate the spray gun and apply closed-cell and/or open-cell polyurethane foam on walls, ceilings, roofs, foundations, and crawl spaces
- Control the thickness and uniformity of the application to meet technical specifications, quotes, and building codes
- Adjust the machine parameters (temperature, pressure, ratio of components A and B) to ensure optimal application according to site conditions
- Perform maintenance and troubleshooting of the spraying equipment (proportioner, heated hoses, gun, nozzles) and solve mechanical problems on site
- Supervise and coordinate the work of the helper: give directives, ensure proper preparation of areas and smooth operations
- Evaluate surfaces to be insulated before application (substrate condition, humidity, ambient temperature) and determine the appropriate application method
- Read and interpret plans, technical specifications, and product data sheets
- Ensure quality control of the work performed: check adherence, density, thickness, and finish of the foam
- Manage materials and inventory: product barrels, spare parts, PPE, and ensure that the truck/trailer is well equipped for each day
- Ensure the safety of the team on the site: ensure ventilation is adequate, PPE is worn correctly, and safety protocols are followed
- Complete site reports: applied quantities, application conditions, encountered anomalies
- Strictly adhere to health and safety standards, including wearing specific PPE (full face respirator, protective suit, gloves, glasses)
✅ Requirements
- Minimum 2 to 3 years of experience as a shooter / applicator of sprayed polyurethane – mandatory
- Valid ASP Construction card – mandatory
- WHMIS 2015 certification – mandatory
- Valid driver's license (class 5) – mandatory (daily travel to job sites)
- Mastery of spraying systems (Graco proportioners, Reactor or equivalent)
- In-depth knowledge of closed and open cell foams, primers, and related products
- Ability to diagnose and solve equipment problems in the field
- Good physical condition (demanding physical work, carrying loads, working at height)
- Comfortable wearing a full face respirator for long periods
- Spoken French – mandatory
- CCQ competency card – a major asset
