About the position

Under the supervision of the mechanic and purchasing supervisor, the construction equipment mechanic ensures the maintenance, diagnosis, repair, and tuning of various construction equipment, heavy vehicles, and light vehicles.

The mechanic intervenes directly at the workplace and at the clients' premises, notably in factories and on construction sites. He may also be called upon to intervene in emergencies to ensure the availability and proper functioning of the equipment.

Main responsibilities

Under the direction of the supervisor, the mechanic will have to:

  • Carry out preventive maintenance, diagnosis, and repair of heavy machinery, heavy and light vehicles.
  • Identify operational problems, investigate the cause, and carry out necessary repairs.
  • Maintain, check, repair, and adjust various mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems.
  • Carry out tuning and repair of diesel engines and injection systems.
  • Repair and maintain clutches, transmissions, brakes, running gear, and other components.
  • Carry out assembly and disassembly of equipment components.
  • Carry out welding work, an asset.
  • Make service calls in industrial environments, in factories, and on construction sites.
  • Intervene in emergencies and equipment breakdowns.
  • Carry out general maintenance, tuning, and repair of light vehicles and equipment (ATVs, lawn tractors, small engine tools, etc.).

Requirements

  • Vocational training (DEP) in construction equipment mechanics, heavy vehicle mechanics, or a related field.
  • Relevant experience in construction equipment mechanics, heavy vehicles, or industrial equipment, an asset.
  • Good knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems.
  • Knowledge of diesel engines and injection systems.
  • Ability to effectively diagnose mechanical problems.
  • Ability to work with different tools and equipment.
  • Spoken French.
  • Good skills in teamwork and effective communication.
